Pastor Giles leads toy gun exchange to teach youth about violence prevention

Buffalo community leaders, including Pastor James Giles, organized a toy gun exchange event across from the Tops supermarket on Jefferson Avenue as part of National Youth Violence Prevention Week. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about youth violence and promote safer alternatives for children. By exchanging toy guns for educational materials and positive reinforcement, organizers hope to encourage non-violent play and foster a culture of peace among the city’s youth.

Peacemakers and Gun Violence Facts

For over a decade, the Buffalo Peacemakers have been on the front lines, working tirelessly to reduce gun violence and create safer streets. Through mentorship, conflict resolution, and community outreach, they’ve helped drive a significant decline in shootings. But their mission isn’t over. As gun violence continues to impact neighborhoods, the Peacemakers remain committed to breaking the cycle and fostering lasting change.
